Mickey Mouse company offers ringtones and video clips

As if ringtones weren't annoying enough already...

NEWS Disney has signed deals with three top UK mobile operators to sell its ringtones and video clips. Deals with Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange will give the entertainment company a Europe-wide coverage, and 75 per cent of UK mobile owners. And it hopes to extend the deal to Spain later this year. The entertainment company has deals with operators in 18 other countries, but Vodafone is the largest operator so far. Disney hopes to copy the success of its Japanese operation, where, after two years, it has pulled in 3.4m subscribers. Under the deal, clips and messages featuring Disney characters will be available to subscribers. Disney is also in talks with several European broadband ISPs to capture a share of the interactive gaming and education market.
