NEWS Pre-pay mobile phone users will be able to top up their credits at more than 7,000 NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland cashpoints around the UK as of 22 April.
Orange, O2, T-Mobile, Virgin and Vodafone customers will be able to use a cashpoint as they normally would but when prompted they will be able to select an on-screen option to top up their mobile phone.
By entering their phone number into the cashpoint they will then be able to add between £10 and £50 to their phone.
The service will initially be available to customers with Adam & Co, The Co-operative Bank, Coutts, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and The One Account.
Customers of banks connected to the Link network will also be added to the scheme later this year.
Abbey National was the first UK bank to launch such a scheme for customers on the Orange network back in September 2002.
A spokeswoman for Abbey National told silicon.com that "many customers are using the service" although there are no actual figures currently available on just how popular it is.
