O2 UK has signed up Qualcomm to provide its user interface platform.

The deal – the first of its kind for Qualcomm in Europe - will see the company's uiOne platform being used to develop a single user interface for O2's X signature device range, which currently consists of two PDAs.

The uiOne platform will make its first appearance on O2's XDAs in late 2006, according to Qualcomm.

O2 said it had opted for uiOne for reasons of cost and time-to-market benefits.
