The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced that 9.5 million units of Bluetooth-enabled devices are currently shipped worldwide each week.
This figure, according to the industry body, is double that of May this year where the weekly shipment totalled 4.75 million.
Michael Foley, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG, said in a media statement: "Having doubled its shipments in just four months, Bluetooth technology has once again proved itself as the wireless technology for the personal area network."
To enhance user experience, the group also launched a series of new consumer programmes to help Bluetooth users gather information and make informed buying decisions.
These initiatives include the "experience icon", which will enable consumers to easily identify products that are Bluetooth-capable, and the setting up of an official Bluetooth website - to be formally launched early next year - where industry players and consumers can gather relevant information about the wireless technology.
