Photos: Wagamama waiters go wireless with Symbol

Hardcore handhelds...

This busy Wagamama near the Tower of London is just one of the chain's 39 restaurants which have equipped their waiters and waitresses with Symbol devices, after finding maintenance bills for their previous devices were too high.

A long overdue choice. Symbol's PPT8800 range has been around for ages and the Wagamama Ipaqs were getting on! They were using them back in 2002 or so.

I'm a little surprised they didn't opt for the Symbol MC50s. Not quite as rugged as the 8800's, but you get the same fantastic hardware support and still tougher than the high street retail options.

Have toyed with investing in an MC50 for personal use...
