After the recent scramble for the newly released dot-eu domain names, the latest top level domain, dot-mobi, will see its sunrise period starting soon.
Unlike traditional internet domains, dot-mobi is designed to host sites optimised to be viewed on mobile devices.
The first sunrise period, which begins on 22 May, will allow holders of trademarks related to the mobile industry to stake their claim. From 12 June, other trademark holders will be able to get in on the act. From 28 August, registration will be available to the general public.
The group behind dot-mobi has also published best practice guides for web developers to help them get started on sites for the small screen, which can be found here.
