The services will cost £3 per week for a new 'mobisode' along with access to a social network messaging service where fans can chat with each other via IM to discuss the programme.

There will also be the option of receiving six pieces of enhanced mobile content per week, including Red Dwarf ringtones and wallpapers, as well as other Pitch content such as videos and games.

Charles Armitage, chief executive of Noel Gay Productions - which produced the original Red Dwarf and collaborated with Pitch - said the technology gives fans the chance to enjoy exclusive content with the extra benefit of social networking.

Red Dwarf is now almost 20 years old and has been screened in more than 35 countries. The show was recently named 'Top Science Fiction and Fantasy Show of all time by' the Radio Times.

Thats all well and good... Just I dont have £3 a week to spend on my phone.
I have allways loved red dwarf and would like to see them but it just feels like a waste of money to me...
I just hope they become available on the internet for free at some point.

lets see, £3 a week to watch odd clips downloaded to my phone and viewed on a screen maybe 4"x2.5" if I'm lucky, maybe 2 minutes per clip again if I'm lucky, and again say a different clip per working day, so an entire show's worth of clips say 40 minutes would take about 4 weeks to show, so that would be £12 per episode

I'm pretty sure you can get DVD's containing 3 or 4 episodes suitable for viewing on your big screen at home with your mates and a few beers for the same price, and if you really want it on your phone there are free tools available that will convert the format for you, despite this being a violation of copyright

so do you seriously want this service ? if so can I interest you in a list of web addresses, going cheap
