BlackBerry-maker RIM has jumped aboard the app store bandwagon, launching BlackBerry App World earlier this month - its answer to the iTunes App Store and Google's Android Market.
It's still early days for BlackBerry Apps - RIM's developer community is not likely to rival the size and scope of Apple's anytime soon - and App World inevitably has a strong US bias at present. Moreover you'll need to go hunting outside the virtual store to find some third party tidbits. But as a taster of the BlackBerry-friendly wares out there here's silicon.com's starter for 10...
1 - Travel smart
The slick-looking WorldMateLive app is the business traveller's friend - putting a wealth of travel-related info at your fingertips. It's feature-packed - including a comprehensive travel directory (airlines, hotels and car rental companies), plus flight schedules and status, hotel booking, world and local weather and a currency converter. You can also use it to build a travel itinerary and it syncs with your calendar to include business meetings in the itinerary. The app also has a 'Connections' section where you can check to see if any pre-selected contacts are in the locality and available to meet. Another app - WeatherEye - will suffice if you just want regular weather updates.
