AlertMatrix and WebMessenger Message Alerts (pictured above) are two apps that aim to rid you of the urge to check your BlackBerry every 10 seconds in case you've got a vital email. This is all about putting the user back in control of the hardware by showing the BlackBerry who's the (real) boss. Both apps let you set up pretty granular rules and filters for mobile email, SMS and calls - so you can safely snub unimportant emails without missing the emergency missive from your boss.
