CIO moves
Current Transport for London CIO Phil Pavitt will join HM Revenue and Customs from this September. He will take up the £180,000 per year position in September, where he will oversee 1,400 staff and a budget of £1bn, making the HMRC one of the largest IT departments in Europe.
Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has landed a new IT director in the shape of Rob Fraser. Rob Fraser, currently VP of consumer, technology and transport at CSC, will take over the position from outgoing IT director Angela Morrison this autumn.
Talk Talk has appointed David Cooper to its newly created role of CIO. Prior to joining TalkTalk, Cooper was chief technology and operations officer at mobile operator 3.
Virgin Atlantic's CIO, Mike Cope, has left the company following the integration of the airline's IT and finance departments.
CIO appointments
The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew are seeking a CIO to develop and implement the organisation's information management strategy and support its Breathing Planet programme, an initiative around conservation and sustainable development.
Applications have now closed for the post of director of IS, business solutions at Cancer Research UK. The position involves delivering the charity's IS strategy and acting as ambassador for IT to the organisation's users.
