NEWS America Online (AOL) chiefs, Stephen Case and Robert Pittman, have moved to quash rumours that a merger with AT&T is imminent. US press reports claim that employees at AOL were sent an email explaining that the company is committed to remaining independent. However, the email confirmed that the company is hoping to establish alliances with a wide range of telecoms companies.
