In brief: French telco fails in Spanish licence bid

NEWS France Telecom has been denied the opportunity to enter Spain's deregulated mobile telecoms market. A third and final mobile license was up for grabs, but was awarded to a consortium led by Retevision, Spain's latest fixed-line telephony operator.
France Telecom won a licence last month to offer fixed-line telephony to Spanish customers, but analysts are not confident that it will be able to compete against Telefonica and Retevision without the mobile licence too.
