NEWS Rockwell is expected to cut 10 per cent of its to 48,000 strong workforce as part of a worldwide reorganisation. Exact details will be revealed later this week. Rockwell cited slow growth in its automation business as a reason for the move. Analysts predict the division will increase by as little as three per cent in the current fiscal year, a drop of over four per cent since the fiscal year for 1997. The company also blamed Asian turmoil and changes to its semiconductor operations.
