NEWS Esprit Telecom has signed an interconnect agreement with France Telecom. The pan-European operator - which has previously stressed the importance of either owning or controlling network infrastructure - has also won the right to use the single digit carrier select code '6' in France. Esprit said the code will allow it to compete on equal terms with France Telecom. Esprit chief executive, David Oertle, said: "This agreement is a critical step in our French strategy, making it easier for French customers to link directly into our network and, when fully operational, lowering our network costs in France."
