Cable firms set to clean up with bundled services

NEWS BT and BSkyB could lose out to cable operators providing converged telecoms and television services, according to a JD Power and Associates report. The market research group found that one in ten UK households already purchase bundled telephony and pay-TV services, mainly from Cable & Wireless Communications, NTL and Telewest. And if forecasts prove accurate, BT could lose as much as £850m in revenue every year. Zaiba Nanji, managing director of JD Power, said: "Although our research was focused on residential customers, it's fair to say small and even large businesses will be receptive to bundled services which make their lives easier. But we're not there yet." Three thousand households served by the UK's principal cable providers were surveyed by JD Power for the report.
