NEWS Microsoft has done a deal with Matsushita, which will see the Japanese electronics giant launch WebTV terminals and use the Windows CE operating system in future products. Matsushita - the company behind the Panasonic and Technics brand names - will be able to license Windows CE for use in audio-visual and PC-converged products, with a focus on developing PC technology which will exploit digital television. Matsushita is expected to start shipping WebTV network terminals by the end of 1998. Microsoft struck similar deals with Hitachi and Sony earlier in the year.
