Cisco reaches $100bn milestone

NEWS Cisco Systems has reached the magical $100bn mark for market capital in under twelve years. In doing so, Cisco has comfortably surpassed even high-flying Microsoft. Bill Gates' firm took nearly 20 years to reach the same value. Adam Daum, senior consultant at Inteco, explained that Cisco's large growth was "driven by the Internet", adding: "It has supplied a large amount of infrastructure for Web development." Peter Crowcombe, account director at Spikes Cavell, said that in spite of "phenomenal growth", the company has been managed very well, adding that it has been careful enough to make sure the growth didn't backfire.
