Compuserve provides online access to NetNames

By John Oates, 30 July 1998 06:05

NEWS NetNames has made its first strategic alliance in a deal with Compuserve. The deal gives all Compuserve members online access to the company's domain name service, allowing customers to buy and pay for international domain names online. It also enables customers to set up a warning service so if anyone in the world tries to register their company name, or something similar to it, they receive an email warning. Catherine Swift, channels manager at NetNames, said: "It's a cheaper deal for business customers, you can register the name instantly whether it's for the UK or anywhere else." She added that the search and alert service can also notify customers when a name they wish to use becomes available.
