NEWS UK Can has overhauled its communications infrastructure by spending £100,000 on a bundled voice and data solution from ML NetWorks. The company, which makes cans for companies such as Gillette and WD40, has purchased a WAN and telephony solution comprising structured cabling, 3Com LAN Environment, Cisco routers, Leased Line connectivity and SDX INDeX telephone switches. BT is set to provide ISDN back-up at the company's two main sites in London and South Wales. David Fulker, IT Manager at UK Can, told Silicon News: "Our view is that it's good to deal with one supplier, and very good to have just one support contract. We realise the flip side of this is that we could be seen to be putting all our eggs in one basket." Fulker said the decision to go with ML NetWorks was not based on price alone, and the systems integrator had previously supplied a LAN for UK Can.
