US consumers get online forum

NEWS A commercial standard for online retail has been launched on a private Web site in the US at www.isitsafe.com. The Internet Consumer Assistance Bureau (ICAB) enables consumers to share feedback on the retail sites they have used - and offers profiles of accredited retailers. ICAB's services are free to consumers, but businesses which want their offerings accredited must pay $50 per year. Ron Foster, ICAB's marketing director, told Silicon News: "We offer an alternative to the Better Business Bureau - a US government agency. Our service saves time and money for vendors who want to promote themselves to the public." Foster said there is nothing to stop ICAB from becoming a consumer forum for online retailers outside the US.
