NEWS Tescos is extending its sale of computers to five more stores. The UK supermarket launched a pilot scheme in partnership with Siemens Nixdorf and Fujitsu. In today's announcement Tesco said Siemens will provide PCs for the five extra stores. A Fujitsu announcement is expected within two weeks. The supermarket will only sell one model - a Pentium II 233MHz machine for £679.99. Ian Sinclair, of Tesco's computer division, said: "This is a good value product for our customers. We chose Siemens because we have a long standing relationship with them - they provide all our cash tills." He said the supermarket was awaiting results from the Fujitsu deal. Terry Cooke, sales and marketing development director at Siemens Nixdorf, claimed the deal marked a serious move into retail for the manufacturer. He said that the recent deal with Acer gave the company economies of scale to compete at retail.
