In brief: Racal sells Data Communication division

NEWS Racal, the troubled electronics group, has announced the long-awaited sale of its Data Communications division. The subsidiary, which in its last financial year made a loss of £53m on turnover of £185m, is being sold to California based investment group Platinum Equity Holdings for £29.9m. The sale is part of a plan to revive Racal's ailing profit performance.
