NEWS Yorkshire-based telecoms equipment manufacturer Filtronic has made a £40m offer to buy LK-Products from Nokia. It is the third major acquisition the company has made in just four months. It bought Litton Solid State last month and Sage in May, both US-based companies. According to a Filtronic spokeswoman, the acquisitions are part of the company's drive to expand its technology base. "These companies will add to our capabilities in the core areas we supply, including cellular telecoms and military telecoms," she said. Filitronic supplies to Nokia and the acquisition of LK-Products will build this relationship, according to the spokeswoman. She denied there is any chance Nokia might acquire Filtronic, saying: "Nokia values Filtronic far more as an independent supplier."
