In brief: RealNetworks and Inktomi improve broadcast technology

NEWS RealNetworks has joined forces with Inktomi - a developer of Internet infrastructure software - to produce a cache product for media streaming. The firms claim the project will give Web surfers better quality video at higher speeds by reducing bandwidth requirements. The caching platform will combine the RealPlayer G2 system with Inktomi's Traffic Server to minimise the impact on networks when large numbers of surfers view popular video sites.
