In brief: British Interactive Broadcasting loses its head

NEWS The head of British Interactive Broadcasting (BiB) David Hilton has resigned just days after the venture gained EC and shareholder approval. The alliance between BSkyB, BT, Midland Bank and Matsushita plans to build interactive banking and shopping services for digital TV. A spokeswoman for the venture said: "David had his own goals and objectives and he feels he has completed those. Getting EC and shareholder clearance is exactly what he set out to achieve." Hilton's replacement, James Ackerman, is already at the helm, and the company expects to announce a number of agreements with finance and retail institutions within the next few weeks.
