NEWS France Telecom has posted a 3.5 per cent year-on-year increase in profits to FFr77.9bn, despite a decline in revenue for fixed lines. The telco was buoyed by almost doubling its revenue for mobile telecommunications, which now make up 13.7 per cent of the total. The volume of traffic on France Telecom's fixed lines has increased, which it claims is due to the increase of calls to mobile phones. However, the company claims rate cuts for national long-distance and international calls has driven the decline in revenue.
