Microstrategy data broadcaster hits the spot

NEWS Microstrategy's latest broadcast server has been adopted by UK Do-it-yourself giant B&Q. B&Q stores are currently piloting DSS Broadcaster. Employees are using the application to access information on stocks, sales, products and pricing. A Microstrategy spokeswoman said: "They are planning to add an email facility and, if this is successful, a pager option." DSS Broadcaster, which launched worldwide on August 11, automatically broadcasts data from a repository via email, pager, fax or mobile phone. It forms part of US-based MicroStrategy's decision support range. Meanwhile, NDC Health Information Services has developed an Intellect Care Alert application for the server which it will offer to the US pharmaceutical industry. President of Information Solutions, Bob Brown, said the system sends out reminders for repeat prescriptions without violating a patient's privacy. Amaxis Pharmaceuticals in the US also announced its support for the product.
