In brief: German telcos threaten price war

NEWS Germany looks set to enter a telephony pricing war as two Deutsche Telekom competitors promise huge cuts for fixed line residential customers. Germany's o.tel.o will unveil price cuts at the beginning of September for weekend and evening rates. Viag Interkom, a joint venture between BT, Viag and Telenor of Norway has also announced cuts of up to a third. Mobile customers are also benefiting from the deregulated market with over 120 companies now offering mobile telephone services.
