NEWS The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has released its first advisory document on the delivery of Internet-based services over cable TV. The report highlights the confusion regulatory bodies are facing as data service providers, telcos and broadcasters converge. According to the document, Internet services delivered over cable should be viewed as cable services and as such, should be governed by the same rules as TV. Internet services delivered over telecoms carrier facilities should be treated differently the FCC claims. The US agency stressed that this paper is a driver for discussion and not a ratified policy.
