NEWS Microsoft's UK portal site, MSN, will reveal the results of its revamp next week. The company claims the site has been improved following an intensive consultation process with UK users. MSN has undergone a number of transformations in the last few years, prompting observers to comment that it is apparently unable to stick to a consistent strategy. The revamp will now reaffirm efforts to become the portal of choice for Web users. MSN's UK director, Judy Gibbons, said the main changes had been made to the site's directory and personalisation features. Gibbons hinted at plans for a future MSN site which would cater separately for business and consumer use. "There are ideas in the pipeline for differentiated services based on the personalisation capabilities of the MSN technology," she said. Gillian Kent, MSN's marketing manager, said MSN will win the portal war "on the strength of our content partners, the superior Microsoft technology and directory infrastructure". The company launches the revamped site at www.msn.co.uk next Wednesday and has plans to extend the upgrades to the rest of Europe.
