In brief: Photo booths go surfing

NEWS A US company has taken an exhibit from the Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and turned it into a commercial concern. The science museum features an Internet photo booth in its lobby, which allows visitors to email images to friends and loved ones. But according to US reports, Photo Vend has taken the idea and built 15,000 of the units ready to be installed in locations all over the country. Called the PhotoPod, it includes a Pentium II PC, a camera and a 17in touch screen. Each machine can take a snapshot of the customer, set up a Web page with the picture and email the URL around the world. It even prints a hard copy of the picture if required.
