Microwave doubles as Net window

NEWS Cashpoint manufacturer NCR claims to have developed a prototype microwave oven that can display Web pages on its door. Called the Microwave Bank, the device will provide full Net access, email and a TV display as well as the more usual cooking and defrosting. NCR is working with Barclays Bank to provide home banking via the kitchen appliance. In a statement, NCR claimed that the living room and TV set would not be used for Web access because they provide "somewhere to relax, not work". The kitchen is obviously the place in any home to read your email and do your banking, it said. The machine will apparently also include a barcode scanner so it can go online shopping for you and re-stock the cupboard.
