In brief: UK lacks enthusiasm for home Net use

NEWS A Mori poll has revealed that the UK is lagging behind many countries when it comes to home Internet usage. Figures from the IriS Network Internet Usage Survey show that in Australia, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the US, around 50 per cent of homes own a PC and 25 per cent own a modem. In the UK these figures are only 32 per cent and 14 per cent respectively. In addition home Internet access rose by just 2 per cent in the UK last year while the other countries surveyed showed an average increase of 25 per cent.
