NEWS Budget airline, EasyJet, is to start a chain of Internet cafes across London under the brand EasyCafe. The company aims to have the first one open for business within six to 12 months. EasyJet's outspoken chairman Stelios Haji-Ioannou is to sink up to £10m pounds of his personal wealth into the venture. A spokesman for the company said: "People won't get onto the Net in large numbers because of the cost of hardware - and because computers change so fast." Responding to the criticism that they have come to the idea too late and that even established Internet cafes are suffering, he said: "We know about business and marketing - many of the existing players are doing it for a hobby." Tony Anderson, EasyJet's head of sales and marketing, will run the company. Net access will cost about £2 an hour, although prices will vary through the day. The cafes will also sell good quality coffee.
