Microsoft ups charges for other Web search firms

NEWS Microsoft has increased the amount search engine companies have to pay for the privilege of being included in its Web search system. AltaVista, Infoseek, Lycos and Snap will have to pay a guaranteed minimum of $60m, but actual payments will be based on the number of impressions. Infoseek has already announced it will take a charge of up to $8m when the service launches.
