Netscape fights browser privacy bug

NEWS Following Netscape's confirmation of a security bug in its browser software, the company says it will post a fix on its Web site by the end of the week. The bug makes the browser cache vulnerable to a malicious JavaScript created by Web programmer Dan Brumleve. When a surfer enters a hostile site, the bug allows the Web site operators to read the URLs that are contained in the user's current cache. Netscape is reported to have admitted that the bug could also be sent through a Web-based email.
