Netscape launches Microsoft-friendly software

NEWS Netscape has come up with a strategy to entice more Internet traffic to its Netcenter portal site via Microsoft's browser technology. The Internet company yesterday announced plans to introduce Netscape Tuneup for Internet Explorer (IE) software, which gives IE users access to special features at its Netcenter Web site. The move seems to bear out Netscape's repeated claims that browser revenue is not a priority. It appears that getting customers onto Netcenter is the company's most important objective. However, it means endorsing its arch rival's software which it has spent so long competing against. Internet Explorer users who download Netscape Tuneup will be connected to advanced searching, personalised Web pages and free email at Netcenter.
