Dictaphones go digital with pocket-sized BiteMate

NEWS A digital dictaphone with PDA (personal digital assistant) functions and PC compatibility has been launched by E W Bridge, a Californian company which specialises in pocket-sized digital sound recorders. Windows compatible software and two-way .wav conversion allows the BiteMate to transfer sound bites into emails, documents, presentations and Web pages. The flash memory feature within the chip means recordings can be instantaneously accessed, scanned, or downloaded onto a PC. The 400 and 800 models have between 4MB and 8MB memory and can store up to 100 minutes of long play. Additional features include a calendar, contacts and reminder service.
Optional Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred or Professional software enables speech recognition. The BiteMate 400 and 800 are priced at $199.95 and $299.95 respectively.
