MCI WorldCom to plough $500m into high-tech start-ups

NEWS MCI WorldCom will shortly announce a $500m fund for technology start-ups according to the Financial Times. The fund will be pooled from new and existing investments made by MCI and WorldCom before their recent merger. Chairman Bert Roberts said the venture capital would be used to "nurture the little companies [and] new technologies". Meanwhile, MCI WorldCom recently moved further into the Internet market with the rollout of its Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) technology across the US mainland.
