Cisco buys router firm

By editorial@silicon.com, 3 December 1998 18:01

NEWS Cisco is to buy router manufacturer, PipeLinks, for $126m in stock. The deal will give Cisco access to PipeLinks' Sonet/SDH router technology, which handles circuit traffic and IP traffic at the same time, enabling service providers to offer integrated voice and data services to the edge of a network. The networking giant has had a minority stake in the privately-owned company since 1997.
