Singapore demonstrates educational IT at Online Information

NEWS This year's Online Information Show in London will present a complete strategy for using IT in education. Just one month after the UK government's formal launch of the National Grid for Learning, Singapore's experiences will be showcased in the keynote address. Thomas Yeoh, assistant CEO of Singapore's National Computer Board, will explain the country's 'thinking schools' model. Singapore is aiming to have one computer for every two students in its 350 primary and secondary schools. Yeoh's target is for 30 per cent of the school curriculum to be computer-based. By contrast, the UK government's aim is to link all its 32,000 schools up to the Internet. Online Information - which runs from 8 to 10 December - will host educational stalls from Encyclopaedia Britannica, the British Library and Infonautics.
