NEWS Brooktrout Technology announced this morning it has bought Lucent's Computer Telephony Products (CTP) arm for $29.4m in cash. The Californian based business manufactures voice processing and voice networking technologies. All of CTP's 100 employees will remain with Brooktrout after the acquisition. Eric Giler, Brooktrout president, explained that the deal would add voice messaging to the company's fax and data services, making Brooktrout a single-source provider. He added that the acquisition would allow the company to offer fast emerging technologies such as unified messaging, IP telephony and call centre CTI.
