French Web users call for second strike

NEWS French Web surfers are calling for a second Internet strike on 31 January, in a bid to force France Telecom to review its local call charges. The strike is being led by the Association of Unhappy Internauts (Adim) and is strongly urging the national telco to introduce a flat rate of FF200 (E30.5) for unlimited local calls. Adim claims the current price of calls is discouraging use of the Internet, as French consumers already have free access to Minitel - an existing proprietary online system.
