HotJobs gambles on Super Bowl ad

NEWS HotJobs.com will be spending $1.6m for 30 seconds of television airtime during 1999's American Super Bowl. One of the online recruitment agency's main competitors, The Monster Board, will also be airing an advert during the American football final. The show will be beamed live, across the globe on 31 January, to an estimated audience of 90 million viewers. Expecting to post profits around the $4m mark; the sum is almost half of HotJob's revenue for 1998. Auto-By-Tel was the first Internet-based company to advertise during the Super Bowl in 1997. The online car seller became well known overnight due to the traffic generated by the advert.
