UK consumers prefer Web to high street

NEWS Over half of UK shoppers would like to shop around for the best deals without leaving home, according to a report commissioned by ecommerce vendor, Gresham Computing. The survey also shows that two thirds of shoppers would rather be doing something else than tramping around stores. Younger respondents were particularly apathetic: 80 per cent of 15 to 34-year olds would rather stay at home. The report, called 'A brave new e-world - Adoption of the Internet by British business and consumers' was conducted by Aspect International and BMR. They surveyed 1,000 UK consumers and 50 senior executives from the Times Top 1000 list.
