Creation backtracks over MP3

By John Oates, 1 February 1999 17:23

NEWS Creation Records has reversed its decision to put MP3 files of its singles on its Web site before they go on general release. The plan was to put singles from artists like Oasis and The Chemical Brothers up on the Web a month before they go on sale. A Creation spokesman insisted the move was not a response to pressure from Creation's parent company, Sony. Instead, he said Creation was merely responding to a "request" from the Japanese media giant. He said Sony is still considering the issue and had asked Creation to wait until a decision has been made.
