NEWS Planet Online was one of the leading lights at the Internet Service Provider Association awards in London last night, as it took the prize for the best business ISP. It beat rivals - including UUNet - to the award, as the judges looked for the company that offered the best all-round understanding of business, a flexible approach and value for money. UUNet picked up the prize for best business customer service. Other award winners included EasyNet for best European ISP, Netbanx for best ISP ecommerce service. Telinco's Virtual point-to-point product won the award for innovation. Freeserve was best consumer ISP, while its creator, Peter Wilkinson was named personality of the year. ISPA chairman, Tim Pearson, said the awards "give the Internet industry the opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous strides made by this young and fast-moving sector". There were 15 categories in all. The panel of judges included Labour MP and head of the Parliamentary All-Party Internet Group, Derek Wyatt, e centre director, Roger Till, and Reuters' head of telecommunications, Phil Sayer.
