RealNetworks patches video bug

NEWS RealNetworks has rushed out a software patch for its RealServer G2 video software, which caused the firm's high-profile content channels to grind to a halt yesterday. Engineers at the company's Seattle headquarters worked throughout the night to fix the bug, which presented a 'server error' message to users trying to access RealPlayer videos. The glitch was triggered at 12.01am yesterday, when an upgrade to the firm's own RealServer installation took effect. RealNetworks technical consultant, Neil Walker was unable to shed any light on the matter. "We don't really know why, but on 14 March everything was fine, and on 15 March it wouldn't work," he said. The patch is available at http://service.real.com/g2patch.html
