BBC campaign to offer free Net lessons

NEWS Thousands of UK organisations are teaming up to take part in the BBC's six-week WebWise campaign, in which members of the public take crash courses in how to use the Net. Schools, colleges, libraries, football clubs, supermarkets and pubs are all taking part. By phoning the free helpline number, 0800 100 900 anyone can arrange a free induction lesson in their local area. The scheme is being promoted by BBC TV's Tomorrow's World programme, along with national and local radio stations. The programmes, 'WebWise Challenge' and 'Tales from the Net' will air on BBC2 on 26 April - the day the project goes live. Visitors to the http://www.bbc.co.uk/webwise Web site can find out the basics and history of the Internet, email their queries to site's 'netknowhow' section, or test their Internet knowledge on its netquery page.
