NEWS Oxfam has for the first time turned to email to drive support for its emergency appeal for refugees of the Kosovan conflict. From tomorrow Oxfam will be launching an online appeal with banner advertising on various Web sites that have donated free space. The charity has also been donated two UK mailing lists from BT and Autotrader which it will use to drive traffic to its Web site where people can make online donations. Simon Collings, head of appeals at Oxfam, said: "The Internet is a very good way of reaching the 20 to 35 age group that research has shown doesn't donate as much as other groups. Also electronic media enables us to offer more up to date and detailed information in more flexible ways. " Collings added that the email fundraising campaign is a test and the results will be monitored to see if it will be used again for future campaigns.
